• Can BPA Exposure Cause Spider Veins?

Posted on November 2, 2015 by in diet and veins, spider veins, varicose vein facts

It is widely known that hormonal issues can be a huge contributing factor in the formation of vein issues – pregnancy, birth control methods, menopause, puberty, but often over looked is the influence of outside sources which may cause these variances.

“BPA is the largest endocrine disrupting chemical in commerce” according to Fredrick Vom Saal, a biologist at the University of Missouri. Yet it is also one of the most widely used.

Bisphenol A (BPA) is so widely used because it creates a sturdier more stable plastic.  The problem is that it also mimics estrogen and can be absorbed into the blood stream.  Unless stated otherwise on a label, canned foods and bottled waters in your groceries are packed with BPA, some of which can leach into the water and food itself and in turn find its way in to your body.

We are exposed to BPA in lots of other places besides our drinking bottles. We live in a chemical world these days. Nail polish, paints, magazine ink, aerosol sprays, receipt papers, linings of certain frozen food containers, wall paper, you name it. BPA has been found to be a major soil contaminant as well which can work its way into the roots of plants including our vegetable and fruit crops.

The results physically from BPA exposure can range from:

    • Spider veins
    • Hemorrhoids
    • Varicose veins
    • Skin tags
    • Cherry hemangiomas
    • Diabetes
    • Fluctuating levels of hormones in men
    • Asthma
    • Fertility issues
    • Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome
    • Cancer
    • Liver congestion

    Suggestions to limit BPA exposure:

    • Get a good water filter, either whole house or standalone – such as a Berkey Water Filter and store your water in glass containers
    • Use only glass storage containers for your left over foods
    • Never microwave in plastic
    • Stick with fresh or dried foods – steer clear of canned
    • Cook at home. Much restaurant food is bought in bulk and is canned
    • Coffee: Use a French Press or Manual Drip – Kcups in particular have been found to contain high levels of BPA
    • Do a good cellular level internal cleanse yearly to help reduce toxins in your body from everyday exposure. The BePure cleanse is one of the top on the market, though there are others out there as well. Consult with your doctor or natural health advocate.
    • Use an FIR (Far-Infrared) Sauna is a fantastic way to sweat out any BPA in your body.

It has been found that these saunas not only detox BPA, but also xenoestrogens, phthalates, heavy metals and other toxic chemicals.

If you begin to notice small spider veins beginning to form, don’t just assume it is due to age and cannot be treated or prevented. Consult with an experienced vein specialist.
